Best elephant ride & Park Bali was founded in 1997 and is located in the foggy hinterland of Ubud. It was created in response to the devastating situation in Sumatra, where the native elephant population has shrunk due to deforestation and poaching. Our multi-award-winning park is Bali’s only elephant rescue facility and is home to 31 endangered Sumatran elephants, 4 of which were born here. The park offers guests the rare opportunity to interact and get to know these gentle giants, while our healthy herd has a comfortable and safe environment in which to call at home.
How Big The Park Is
The park is located on 4 hectares and has been carefully landscaped to imitate the original habitat of our elephant’s birthplace in Sumatra. The location in central Bali was also chosen for its cooler climate and lush environment, which helps keep our elephants cool and comfortable in this tranquil landscape.
We work patiently together
Best Elephant ride & Park Bali don’t use brutal or cruel training methods because all training is done through repetition, reward and patience. Elephant rides take place on specially developed seats made of light teak, which are heavily padded and deflect the weight from the spine without the elephant’s back being uncomfortable or injured. Riding an elephant actually helps by providing the necessary exercise for its muscles, bone density, foot health, and general well-being. Elephants also enjoy interacting with guests and other elephants.
Our park follows the “5 Freedoms of Animal Welfare” established in Great Britain in 1965. In our 20 years of activity, the park actively supports other like-minded global charities and has been partnered by the international community and numerous animal welfare organizations such as the World Wildlife Foundation.
